:: 7 Post Shaker - Advanced Techniques

ARC continues to use innovative new analysis methods to help chassis engineers understand the effects of spring, damper and suspension geometry changes. The 7-post shaker can apply all vertical forces seen by the car on the race track, banking loads, lateral load transfer, acceleration and ride height sensitive downforce.

Actual Damping Force Curve

Aerodynamic Balance

The ARC is committed to continually improve its testing methodology and the overall understanding of the dynamics of the race car. We are the only vehicle dynamics facility currently quantifying the effects of tire temperature on the overall damping requirements of the race car. The limiting factor in vehicle performance is the dynamics of the tire, thus studying the effects of tire temperature is paramount to your performance on the race track.

The aeroDYNAMIC analysis allows the chassis engineer to replicate the actual corner loads seen at the track and to analyze the interaction between suspension setups and the resulting corner loads, thus allowing the study of understeer/oversteer characteristics of the race car. This can be achieved for certain sections or the entire track.

When testing on the 7-post shaker all variables can be analyzed and the effects of the actual installation can be quantified. The damping force curve can be extracted from the data to understand how installation stiffness and other variables affect the damping force.

For the serious user, secure 7-post rig garages are available for rental. This will allow the customers the convenience of having their test car ready to go and installed on the 7-post. An SPA dyno is available on-site for the customer’s use.
